Pueblo of Acoma - Big Game Trophy Hunts

Home

Hunting

Joyce Sorenson showing her 381" bull. The hunting program started in 1995 primarily for elk, and has since evolved to include other big game species.

Our elk hunts take place from late August to early October each year during the rut. We offer archery hunts which last six days. Our muzzleloader and rifle hunts last 5 days.

A typical day consists of a morning hunt followed by a mid-day break. You’ll then return to the field for the evening hunt.

Todd Snell

362 SCI

Todd has been hunting with us for the past 8 years. This year he was the only archery hunter to harvest a bull. The hunting for the archery camps this year was great, all of our hunters had opportunities on big bulls and 77% of the hunters released an arrow.

Vance McCuller

388 SCI

"This is the second day of my hunt, I passed on some 370" - 380" bulls and saw a giant 390" - 400" class 6x6, but he did not give me the shot. This morning this bull presented himself as we slipped in between him and his cows. My guide did a great job, what a great bull. Thank you everybody, this place has been first class from the time I arrived."

Wayne Ortland

376 SCI

"It's the fourth day of the rifle hunt, we passed up close to 30 bulls before they allowed me to shoot. I was eager to shoot before this, but was told to hold off for a bigger bull. It was very hard to have to hold off, but this is the result. Thanks to you guys."
